Trong một dòng tweet của mình, Microsoft đã thông báo rằng phiên bản Consumer Preview của hệ điều hành Windows 8 đã được tải về 1 triệu lần trong ngày đầu tiên ra mắt người dùng. Nếu tính ra thì khoảng 41GB dữ liệu được tải về trong một giây, và tổng dung lượng cho 1 triệu lượt tải là 3,5 petabyte. Con số này cho thấy sự quan tâm rất lớn của mọi người dành cho Windows 8, một hệ điều hành mang tính cách mạng của Microsoft về giao diện và trải nghiệm người dùng. Mặc dù chỉ còn đang trong giai đoạn thử nghiệm nhưng hệ điều hành này đã cho thấy tiềm năng của nó với giao diện Metro UI mới mẻ và thuận tiện.
