This is the race to build and put in the field super-fast or hypersonic weapons and vehicles. The military defines a hypersonic weapon as one that travels at least Mach 5 or five times the speed of sound. In comparison, commercial aircraft fly at around Mach 1 while some military jets can push themselves to around Mach 3, but only for a short time.....

Chào buổi sáng cùng Phố,

Trở lại chuyện vui buồn, không biết duyên gì để biết hai mẹ con của con nuôi . Tối hôm qua mẹ của con nuôi gọi phone rồi oà khóc. Với giọng nói thật thà _ Cầu mong việc làm của em tốt để lo cho hai mẹ con chị, đầu dây bên này trả lời _ Việc làm thì đừng lo, chỉ lo cho sức khoẻ của em . Tự tin nói vậy là gì sếp bây giờ thương Chiều và boss (CFO) của sếp cũng quý luôn, sau một năm làm việc chung. Có ngày cần gấp reports thì Chiều làm từ 10-12 tiếng vẫn luôn nở nụ cười trên môi. Thú thật một phần động lực là hai mẹ con này, nên chi làm không biết mệt. An ủi chị, mỗi người đều có số phận riêng, quan trọng là chị phải vui để giữ vững tinh thần, cố gắng lướt qua thêm vài đợt thuốc hoá trị thì sẽ sống thêm với em 10 năm. Chị nghe vậy cũng yên lòng, _Vừa gửi cho chị 18 lon sữa cầm hơi.

Từ ngày vác hai mẹ con lên đôi vai, mỗi khi đi shopping Chiều đứng suy nghĩ nhiều hơn, có nên mua hay không nếu chưa cần.

Ngày mai, mai mốt sẽ được nghỉ lễ Độc lập <3 chưa biết đi đâu.

Tối hôm qua có một người gửi đường link qua FB Messenger với bài Tình Đã Vụt Bay, ngạc nhiên là giọng hát của một người xa xưa.... rồi những kỷ niệm của một thời đi khiêu vũ cùng nhóm bạn ùa về. Bỗng nhớ lại lúc anh ta dìu Chiều đi rumba nhẹ nhàng theo kiểu nhảy cổ điển. Một chút xúc động nhẹ, nhớ lại những ngày cùng đi lễ nhà thờ chung đón Noel, anh là người theo đạo Công Giáo. Kỷ niệm đong đầy.

"Google pays out to settle another age discrimination lawsuit" Một chút niềm vui cho những người trong độ tuổi đang xuống dốc

Google Inc. is paying $11 million to settle a class-action lawsuit claiming the Mountain View-based search giant systematically favors younger applicants over older people, Bloomberg reports.

The lawsuit was spearheaded by Cheryl Fillekes, a computer programmer who claims Alphabet Inc.-owned Google invited her to in-person technical interviews four times between 2007 and 2014, but never hired her, because she was over 40. A total of 227 older software and computer engineers joined the lawsuit, and will reportedly get payouts of about $35,000 each.

In court, Google repeatedly claimed that it doesn’t discriminate against applicants based on their age, pointing to its written policy explicitly stating that age discrimination is illegal.

“Having such a policy does not necessarily shield a company from a discrimination suit, particularly in light of the evidence and allegations presented here,” Fillekes’ lawyers wrote. “If the Court were to conclude otherwise, no age discrimination suit would proceed past the conditional certification stage--today, most, if not all, companies are well versed in anti-discrimination law and make great efforts to ensure that their written policies comply with anti-discrimination law.”

Fillekes claimed a recruiter told her in 2010 to add her college graduation dates to her resume, so it was easier to figure out how old she was, given her decades of experience.

At the time Fillekes filed her lawsuit, the median age for computer programmers in the U.S. was around 42 years old, while Google’s workforce had a median age of 29.

This is the second high-profile age discrimination lawsuit that the Alphabet Inc.-owned search engine has faced. In 2004, Brian Reid, an early pioneer in computer networking, sued Google after he was fired for not being a “culture fit.” Google settled the case out of court.

In other news, Google reportedly settled two unrelated lawsuits. The company will pay $13 million to settle a lawsuit claiming its Street View cars sucked up data about unsecured Wi-Fi connections, and paid an unknown amount to settle a lawsuit from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, which claims Google mishandled YouTube data gathered from children.
