Is there/Was there/Is there
Trước ngày quyết định biến mất khỏi một quãng đời trai trẻ, gã lò dò mò đến căn vi-la nhỏ có mái ngói đóng rêu đòi uống rượu. Gã biết rất rõ ả còn cất giữ một chai vang đỏ của Ý - quà sinh nhật mừng tuổi trưởng thành từ ông chú họ tuy-phong-trần-lịch-lãm-mà-vẫn-cứ-bị-lừa...(nhưng đó lại là một câu chuyện khác chưa muốn kể).
Ả đã hơi vùng vằng chút rồi cũng phải lôi cổ chai rượu để dành xuống từ cái kệ sách đứng chơ vơ không còn sách.
Gã nheo mắt hỏi:"Bị tịch thu hết rồi, phải không?"
Ả gật.
Gã lại hỏi:"Có giấu được quyển nào không?"
Ả lại gật.
"Banka?"*
Lại thêm một cái gật.
Gã đúng là một con ma xó. Ả nghĩ gì/làm gì, gã đều biết. Biết quá/hiểu quá/thông suốt quá về một người không bao giờ là một điều tốt - esp. cho cái được gọi là "lưng-chừng-yêu". Một là yêu. Hai là không yêu. LcY là loại lưng chừng khó thở. Chuyển sang tình bạn ư? Có thể - nếu như gã không phải là gã & ả không phải là ả. Cái hiểu biết quá độ của gã về ả đã hại gã (hay cứu gã?) đồng thời cũng đã hại luôn những cơn sóng ngầm trong ả (nếu có).
Nhớ nhé, Em - nhớ đừng bao giờ cho cái cô tình nhân bé nhỏ xinh xinh kia biết được cái thông suốt quá độ của em về cô ta. Bằng không, cô ta sẽ chẳng khi nào chịu chui theo em vào cái "ngục tù chung thân" mà em đã từng dự tính cùng chia xẻ. Nhưng cảnh cáo trước: Ngục thất sẽ không còn là một chỗ hân hoan nếu như những tù nhân tự nguyện của nó cố tình giả vờ không chịu hiểu. Ah, ngược ngạo thế đấy!
Anyway, gã tì tì nốc hết nửa chai rượu đỏ rồi chìa tay ra bắt thay cho lời từ biệt. Khi đã ở phía bên kia cánh cổng sắt rỉ sét, gã bất chợt quay mặt lại hỏi:
"Is there love?"
Lần này ả không gật - mà lắc.
Rồi gã đi. Xa lắm. Lâu lắm. Không gặp nữa.
Ả rồi cũng đi - khúc "Banka" được gửi gấm lại cho một ả bạn thân mà sau đó - (cả người lẫn sách) - đã bị lạc mất trên biển lớn.
Ả bỏ đi không với cái ý định tìm lại gã. Dòng đời đưa đẩy/đẩy đưa, trái đất coi vậy mà cũng không nhỏ lắm như ả đã từng chăm chú ngắm nghía trên những tấm bản đồ. Duy chỉ có cái âm vang dai dẳng khó chịu của bầy gió mùa tràn về mỗi thu sang là không nhỏ. Chúng rì rầm/rì rầm:"Is there love...Was there love...Is there?"
Để được yên thân vẫy vùng cùng cơm áo - (một lần) - ả đã bắt buộc phải hét toáng lên, rằng:"Yes, there is/there was/there is. Happy now?"
Vái trời ở đâu đó trên tấm bản đồ thực sự của thế giới, gã chưa lọm khọm đến nỗi bị chứng lãng tai.
Đôi khi, sự hiểu biết thông suốt quá về một người nào đó ưa plays some tricky tricks...

2. Examples of Religious or Cultural Taboos:
Many taboos are associated with religion or culture. Some of these tend to be specific to particular countries, including both developing countries and fully developed nations.
birth control - in some religions, such as Catholicism, it is considered taboo to use birth control medications or devices
blood transfusions - Jehovah Witnesses are forbidden to undergo blood transfusions or use certain blood products
eating beef - cows are recognized as sacred animals in India. The Hindu faith, which is the predominant religion in India, forbids consuming beef
eating pork - consuming pork is forbidden in some religions, including Judaism and Islam
eating cold foods during pregnancy - per traditional Chinese medicine, eating cold foods is off-limits for women who are pregnant
holiday and birthday celebrations - Jehovah’s Witnesses don’t celebrate birthdays and most other holidays
premarital sex - most religions consider sexual relations prior to marriage to be taboo
head touching - in Indonesia, a person’s head is considered sacred and so is off-limits for other people to touch or pat
homosexuality - in some religions or cultures, sexual relations with people of the same sex is considered taboo
