‘We lost our child’: parents of girl who died after wait at Perth hospital
    https://www.theguardian.com/australi...em-must-change

Aishwarya was taken to the $1.2bn hospital’s emergency department with a fever and triaged by staff in the second-least urgent category. Her parents pleaded for her to be assessed after her eyes became cloudy and her hands turned cold but were forced to wait for almost two hours. She died soon after she was finally seen.

“Some of the staff were ignoring us ... they didn’t even pass on the message to their superiors so they could decide,” he said. “We found the staff were a bit rude and we found that the level of humanity that they had was very low.”

Among the report’s recommendations was a review of staff awareness of culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

The family have questioned whether their ethnicity influenced their treatment and believe a systemic review is needed.
No doubt. Different look, different book.

Perth hospital staff missed opportunities to help girl who died of infection, investigation finds
    https://www.theguardian.com/australi...tigation-finds

The report finds that Aishwarya’s parents, who have accused staff of lacking compassion, raised concerns about her deteriorating condition on five separate occasions after taking her to the emergency department on Easter Saturday.

Within 20 minutes of arriving, Aishwarya’s hands were cold, her eyes were discoloured and her respiratory rate and heart rate were significantly elevated.

But the severity of her condition was not recognised until an hour and 17 minutes later, when a doctor noticed she had cold peripheries and slurred speech.

She was pronounced dead within two hours of entering a resuscitation bay, having succumbed to an infection related to group A streptococcus.
Chắc mấy ý tá bác sĩ bận vô phố rùm tán dóc.

    World’s most liveable city:
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...es-up-rankings

The Covid-19 pandemic has shaken up the Economist Intelligence Unit’s annual ranking of most liveable cities, propelling Auckland to the top spot in place of Vienna, which crashed out of the top 10 altogether as the island nations of New Zealand, Australia and Japan fared best.

Online, the news was met by some New Zealanders with faint bemusement. Despite their many strengths, both Auckland and Wellington – another New Zealand city that hit the top five – have some significant challenges to liveability.

“It says everything about the state of the planet that Wellington could be ranked the fourth most liveable city in the world,” said correspondent Ben McKay on Twitter. “Wheezing,” said another commenter on the headlines “Maybe if you earn over 100k.”

“I guess there’s no pandemic here so it’s technically easier to be alive here versus being dead elsewhere,” remarked politics reporter Thomas Coughlan.

Ai can du.
