Có khả năng các điều kiện thời tiết đang được các nhà điều tra xem xét kỹ lưỡng trong cuộc điều tra tìm nguyên nhân gây tai nạn máy bay trực thăng đã giết chết cựu siêu sao của Liên đoàn Bóng Rổ Quốc gia Mỹ Kobe Bryant, con gái ông và bảy người khác ở gần thành phố Los Angeles hôm Chủ nhật, khi mà bầu trời u ám và sương mù đã khiến các máy bay khác phải nằm ụ. Chiếc trực thăng Sikorsky S-76 thuộc quyền sở hữu của Bryant đã đâm vào một sườn dốc bên ngoài thị trấn Calabasas, bang California, cách trung tâm Los Angeles khoảng 40 dặm (65 km) về hướng tây bắc, gây ra một đám cháy và khiến những mảnh vỡ của chiếc trực thăng vương vãi trên một diện tích rộng hơn một 1.000 mét vuông.
