A beauty salon in Tokyo is offering facial treatments in which snails provide slime to treat the skin. According to a beautician, snail slime removes dry skin, makes the face supple and moisturizes. The centre currently only houses enough snails for one facial per day, as the creatures' slime runs out quickly

Roy Zammataro was at his home in Newell Beach, north of Port Douglas, when Tropical Cyclone Jasper struck.
He said a nearby mango tree proved to be the biggest threat – with fruit ripped from its branches turned into projectiles.
“They were like bullets, they were flying,” he said.

thousands protest against Australia Day

Cùng trong một cuộc lễ nghiQuote:
Thousands of Australians protested against the anniversary of British colonisation on Friday, with large crowds across the country calling for Australia Day to be moved and for a day of mourning to instead be held on what they call “Invasion Day”.
Speeches in major cities highlighted anger and despair over high Indigenous incarceration rates, deaths in custody and the forced removal of First Nations children from their families. The rallies come months after the proposal for an Indigenous voice to parliament was overwhelmingly defeated at a national referendum.
In Victoria, the host of the Invasion Day rally congratulated those who chopped Captain Cook off a statue in St Kilda on Thursday, drawing applause from the crowd outside parliament.

Úc mừng năm mới:
Sydney’s lunar new year celebrations grow bigger every year
https://www.theguardian.com/australi...-of-the-dragon
Chỉ còn thiếu cái chợ hoa bị ế là y chang Tết ở Việt nam.Quote:
The significance of the festival’s growth isn’t lost on older migrants, who arrived in a very different Australia and have witnessed the country gradually embracing their culture and traditions. “It’s very rewarding to see what it has become,” Chan says. “When I first came to Sydney in the 70s there were hardly any Chinese-Australians in school, hardly any immigrants from Asia around. But in the time since, it is so great to see how many immigrants have called Sydney home and made these celebrations more significant.
There are dozens of events organised by councils in Sydney to mark the celebration, including dragon boat races on Darling Harbour, the Lunar Lanes night markets in Haymarket and a wide range of street markets scheduled for February.
The celebration will be a boon for businesses, with hundreds of thousands of tourists expected to arrive in the city. Many of them will head to Chatswood, where the celebrations are expected to generate a $10.2m increase in visitor spending. Events, which will run until 25 February, include lion dance performances, a comedy gala, musical experiences and an art installation honouring the year of the dragon.
Xia says the growing prominence of lunar new year reflects the city’s changing face. On the other side of the city in Canterbury-Bankstown, councillor Jessie Nguyen says the celebration is the biggest event of the year for many of the communities that call the region home. More than 20% of residents across Canterbury-Bankstown are of Chinese, Vietnamese or Korean descent, with more than 10% born in Vietnam and China.

Missing workers cause serious delays at Australian airports

Một con người đau cả phi trường bỏ ngỏ…Quote:
On Monday, Airservices requested a ground delay program from 3PM until the airport’s curfew at 11PM (done during times of staff shortages to avoid planes holding mid-air) restricting arrivals at Sydney airport to 26 per hour, down from the normal cap of 80 take offs and landings per hour (roughly split between 40 of each).
The disruptions had nothing to do with weather but were solely related to two air traffic controllers based at Sydney Airport’s control tower – who are entitled to unlimited sick leave under their terms of employment – who didn’t turn up for work on Monday. Airservices Australia CEO Jason Harfield says none of Airservices 950 controllers around the country could replace the absent staff.
McKenzie: “It’s pretty incredible that two people don’t show up for work and the entire country is shut down”.

Entering federal parliament in 2002, Wong recently made history as Australia’s longest-serving female cabinet minister.

During the parliamentary debate in 2017 to expand marriage to same-sex couples like hers, the senator paid tribute to her partner Sophie and their daughters.
