Paris: bơi lội rực rỡ
Seine to open for public swimming
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...paris-olympics
The sites – opposite the central Île Saint-Louis in the centre, by the Quai de Grenelle in the 15th arrondissement to the west, and at Bercy in the eastern 12th arrondissement – will be monitored by lifeguards and marked by buoys, Anne Hidalgo said on Sunday.
The bathing zones will also be “accessible by pontoons and equipped on the quaysides with spaces where swimmers will be able to change, shower and keep their belongings safe”, the city hall said in a statement.
Bathing in the Seine has been banned since 1923, when the city authorities outlawed the open-bottomed swimming boats that lined the quaysides because of the dangers from barge and pleasure traffic and rapidly deteriorating water quality.
However, a €1.4bn clean-up project under way for the past seven years is now bearing fruit, authorities say, with regular tests last year showing waterborne bacteria – notably E coli and enterococci – at a safe level for swimming more than 90% of the time.

‘Sleep tourism’ is the biggest new travel trend of 2023
https://www.indy100.com/lifestyle/sl...trend-wellness
Speaking to Condé Nast Traveller, Jules Perowne, CEO and founder of Perowne International, shared that “there is no doubt that sleep-focused holidays are one of the biggest trends in the travel industry.”
One hotel in London offers guests mediation, a pillow menu and pillow mist, a weighted blanket, and a “bedtime tea”. Guests can also book a 1-2-1 with Malminder Gill, a hypnotherapist and sleep expert.
A wellness resort in Miami that is known for its luxury wellness also has its own sleep therapy. Guests are offered headphones and a mask in a glowing purple room that uses electromagnetic and infrared technologies. Followed is a soak in a bath infused with Epsom salt. Finally, guests enter a 20-minute meditation pod.

Amsterdam to close cruise ship terminal to restrict tourism
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...strict-tourism
“Polluting cruise ships are not in line with the sustainable ambitions of our city,” said a statement from the centre-right party D66, which runs the city with the social democrats PvdA and GroenLinks environmentalists.
And in March, Amsterdam launched a “Stay Away” campaign to discourage tourists planning drug and alcohol-fuelled parties.
The city has long been trying to curb rowdy behaviour such as stag parties, especially near the red light area where sex workers operate.

Paris cướp đồ rực rỡ:
Armed robbers escape with jewellery from Piaget store in Paris
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...et-store-paris
The robbery took place around lunchtime on Tuesday at the store on the Rue de la Paix in the high-end Place Vendôme area, home to several jewellers, watchmakers and luxury brands. The area has seen a spate of armed robberies in recent years.
An investigation is now under way and a source close to the matter said police were looking for three suspects. Nobody was hurt, a police source said.
In May last year, armed thieves robbed a Chanel watch and jewellery store in the area and then sped off on motorbikes. Bulgari and Chaumet stores have also been robbed in recent years.

Paris bedbugs spark fears of international infestation
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...al-infestation
The city of light is reportedly under siege from the nocturnal bloodsuckers, leading the French transport minister, Clément Beaune, to meet transport operators. “It’s a real nightmare,” says Yacine, a schoolteacher in Paris who declined to give his surname. “I’m so afraid to take the Métro, I don’t go to the cinema – it’s very alarmant.”
In the UK, Eurostar has sought to reassure travellers that the textile surfaces of its trains are “cleaned thoroughly on a regular basis”, including with heat, and that the presence of insects such as bedbugs is “extremely rare”.
In a statement, it said that trains would be cleaned “on request, or as soon as there is the slightest doubt”. There were also plans for an “preventive treatment across our entire network”, though no further details were given.

Battambang: ăn đồ rực rỡ
sleepy town won a place on Unesco’s culinary map
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...s-culinary-map
Battambang has been named a city of gastronomy by Unesco and is one of 55 places added to it Creative Cities Network of destinations known for crafts and folk art, design, film, gastronomy, literature, media arts and music.
What Battambang does have are rich culinary traditions and a reputation for producing the country’s most delicious food: flavourful fruit and vegetables and award-winning rice; artisanal products such as fresh rice noodles and rice paper made as they’ve always been made; and tasty street food and traditional fare sold at markets, roadside stalls and rustic eateries.
The province of Battambang is Cambodia’s rice bowl, widely loved for its fertile soils; its picturesque countryside dotted with lofty sugar palms and traditional timber houses; and its lush rice fields where farmers cultivate the famed phka rumdoulvariety of fragrant jasmine rice – crowned the world’s best rice last year for the fifth time.
