    Global lost luggage crisis mounts
    https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2...-crisis-mounts

Many families are taking their first holidays in three years this summer due to the pandemic, during which time airlines and airports undertook drastic cost-cutting as demand fell.As passengers return, the amount of luggage being lost by airlines is surging. In April, almost six bags per 1,000 pieces of luggage checked in by passengers were at least temporarily lost by US airlines.

The rate of baggage mishandled across the world is also on the rise: up 24% last year, with 8.7 suitcases per 1,000 international passengers not arriving on time.

Claims for stranded luggage have jumped 30% on 2019, according to insurer Mapfre SA, and amid high rates of delayed arrivals certain airports are reportedly seeing a tenfold increase in the amount of luggage arriving on the wrong flights.

In Australia, the leading airline, Qantas, is reportedly losing one in 10 bags at the regional hub in Sydney.

    Sydney: xếp hàng rực rỡ

Sydney airport delays with queues snaking out of terminals
    https://www.theguardian.com/australi...t-of-terminals

Travellers at Sydney airport were again hit by long delays on Monday morning with check-in queues spilling out of the terminal.

Aspokesperson for the airport said staff shortages were to blame for the extended wait times as lines stretched out in excess of 150 metres to get through security screening at domestic terminals.

Sydney airport was named one of the world’s worst airports last month after being plagued by weeks of flight cancellations and delays.

Data compiled by the flight tracking and data platform FlightAware ranked Sydney sixth worst for flight cancellations, with 5.9% of flights cancelled, and ninth worst for delays, with 34.2% of flights affected.

    Venice: khinh công rực rỡ

    Venice: surfing along Grand Canal
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ng-grand-canal

The young men were spotted dodging gondolas and waterbuses as they navigated Venice’s main thoroughfare on Thursday morning. The scene was recorded by several astonished onlookers.

The video, which included the Beach Boys hit Surfin’ USA playing in the background, drew widespread indignation. “Shameful,” wrote one Instagram user. “They need to be expelled from Venice for life, mamma mia.”

Others, however, found their transportation method pretty cool. “I want one too!” wrote one commenter, while another said: “Wouldn’t it be great if we could all travel around Venice this way without giving money to ACTV [the public transport authority].”

In late July the group shared a video of a man jumping into the Grand Canal from a bridge, narrowly missing a passing boat.

Last week Brugnaro called for “10 days in jail” for a 33-year-old Scottish tourist who was caught taking a dip in a canalway.

In 2020 a French tourist was fined €150 after paddling along the Grand Canal on his standup paddleboard, and two German women had to pay €250 each for sunbathing in bikinis by San Stae church.

    Rome: a fine city?

American tourist fined for eating ice-cream on steps of Rome fountain
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...cream-fountain

The 55-year-old, who also had a beer in hand, was reprimanded by police in the early hours of Saturday at the Fontana dei Catecumeni, on a small, picturesque square in the Monti neighbourhood.

The tape had reportedly been removed, leaving the man unaware that he was about to commit an infraction when he sat down at about 1am.

According to the newspaper la Repubblica, he did not move when warned by police, so they responded by issuing him with a fine.

    Toronto: giật sao rực rỡ

Michelin hands out stars to 13 Toronto restaurants
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ar-restaurants

Twelve restaurants received one Michelin star for the quality of their food, which the guide says falls into its “very good in its category” and is worth stopping for. Among those were Frilu, Alo, Don Alfonso 1890, Kaiseki Yu-zen Hashimoto and Shoushin.

Despite Toronto’s sprawling geography and ethnic diversity, most restaurants awarded stars are located in the city centre and are either western European or Japanese cuisine. In some cases, customers can expect to spend more than C$600 (US$455) a person on a meal.

Qantas passenger waits three months for airline to return lost bag
    https://www.theguardian.com/business...eturn-lost-bag

When Emma Bradley landed in Perth on a visit to her parents from her home in Wales, she was approached by Qantas staff and told her bag had been left in Singapore. She wouldn’t see it again for three months.

Bradley spent about $1,300 replacing her clothes and other items after the flight on 3 June, but said Qantas offered her just $120 in compensation.

Miner Ash Divakaran flies frequently for work within Australia, and said Qantas had lost his bag six times in the past six months.

Middendorf, who lives in Hobart, had been visiting relatives in the US. He booked his ticket through Qantas, which partners with American Airlines.

He ended up setting up three different requests before his bag was found in Dallas by United Airlines, whom he did not fly with, and sent home on a Virgin flight.

    Peru: hoạ đồ rực rỡ

More than 100 new designs discovered in Peru’s ancient Nazca plain
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...gns-discovered

Following two years of field surveys with aerial photos and drones, Peruvian and Japanese researches from Yamagata University earlier this month reported the discovery of 168 new designs at the Unesco World Heritage site on Peru’s southern Pacific coast.

The geoglyphs, huge figures carved into the South American desert, date back more than 2,000 years and represent humans, cats, snakes, killer whales, birds and native camalids – animals such as llamas, guanacos and alpacas.

The purpose of the Nazca Lines, which could only be seen from the air, remains a mystery.

Paris: hết giục đồ rực rỡ

Ban on single-use restaurant tableware in France
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...ood-revolution

Under the new rules, any restaurant with more than 20 seats – including work canteens, bakery chains, fast-food and sushi outlets – will have to provide reusable, washable cups, plates, dishes and cutlery for customers eating in. French environmental groups called it a “complete paradigm shift” for the sector.

The roughly 30,000 fast-foodoutlets in France serve 6bn meals a year, generating an estimated 180,000 tonnes of waste. Environmental groups said 55% of that was generated by people eating in.

The new law means eat-in burgers and sandwiches can no longer be served in a box but they can continue to be wrapped in paper. All other food – including chips, nuggets, pizzas, ice-creams or cakes – must be served on reusable tableware, and drinks in re-usable cups, washed at 60C as in traditional restaurants.
