    Elon Musk of Guiness:

Elon Musk breaks world record for largest loss of personal fortune in history
    https://www.theguardian.com/technolo...une-in-history

Elon Musk has broken the world record for the largest loss of personal fortune in history, according to a Guinness World Records report.

The tech billionaire has lost approximately $182bn (£150bn) since November 2021, although other sources suggest that it could actually be closer to $200bn, the report said.

The majority of Musk’s fortune is tied up in Tesla stock, the value of which plummeted 65% in a tumultuous 2022, the Guinness World Records report said.

    Elon Musk of Australia:

China takes great leap forward in Australia’s EV car market
    https://www.theguardian.com/australi...-vehicles-cars

In 2022, sales of Chinese-made vehicles in Australia totalled 122,845 units, a 61.1% increase on the previous year, according to Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries data. In December, imports from China were more than double a year earlier.

The increase made China the fourth-largest import source, narrowing the gap with larger rivals. Cars sourced from Japan still dominate, making up just less than a third of the market of 1.1m vehicles even as sales declined almost 6% for the year. Imports from Thailand with 245,000, and South Korea at just over 159,000, both rose less than 10%.

The chief executive of Australia’s Electric Vehicle Council, Behyad Jafari, said Australians were increasingly comfortable buying Chinese-made cars, including EVs. Well known brands, such US-based Teslas, and Polestar, a Volvo offshoot, sourced the cars they sold in Australia from their Chinese factories.

Tuk-tuks go green amid rising demand for electric models
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...lectric-models

In 2021, the levels of the pollutant PM2.5m in Thailand were four times higher than World Health Organization guidance. Inhalation of PM2.5 can cause respiratory problems and heart issues. In 2019, pollution was to blame for more than 31,000 deaths in the country.

The demand for electric tuk-tuks is growing, Kritayakirana says. In 2022, their number increased from 263 to 498, according to the Electric Vehicle Association of Thailand. The government has been encouraging EV uptake since 2015.

Electric tuk-tuks can only travel short distances before needing to be charged, while the price to buy one is about 400,000 baht ($12,000), Cluckie says. The starting price for a traditional tuk-tuk is about 150,000 baht ($4,500).

    The weaponised SUV
    https://www.theguardian.com/artandde...navi-vengeange

The Rezvani Vengeance SUV boasts bulletproof glass, blinding strobe lights, electrified doorhandles, and wing mirrors that can shoot pepper spray.

The car can release a dense smoke screen to confuse people following you, as well as detect electromagnetic pulses from nuclear weapons.

The vehicle’s hefty steel ram bumpers and military-grade tyres would make mincemeat of any parking barrier.

The company was founded in 2014 by Ferris Rezvani, whose father was an F4 Phantom fighter pilot in the Iranian air force. Rezvani Jr decided to start a car company to “create the same high-speed thrill of flying on the ground”. The company’s first car design was named Beast, followed by one called Tank.
