Googly eyes on Oregon city sculptures

On social media, the city shared photos of googly eyes on installations in the middle of roundabouts that make up its so-called “Roundabout Art Route.” One photo shows googly eyes placed on a sculpture of two deer, while another shows them attached to a sphere. It’s not yet known who has been putting them on the sculptures.

“While the googly eyes placed on the various art pieces around town might give you a chuckle, it costs money to remove them with care to not damage the art,” the city said in its posts.

The Facebook post received hundreds of comments, with many users saying they liked the googly eyes. “My daughter and I went past the flaming chicken today and shared the biggest laugh,” one user said, using a nickname for the “Phoenix Rising” sculpture. “We love the googly eyes. This town is getting to be so stuffy. Let’s have fun!”

A hunting group was following the bear when it ran up the tree, the department said. As the group retreated from the tree, a hunter shot the bear. The animal fell on to another hunter who was standing about 10ft (3 metres) from the bottom of the tree.

The department identified the man as Lester C Harvey, 58, of Phenix, Virginia. A member of the group rendered first aid before Harvey was rushed to two different hospitals. He died from his injuries on Friday, the wildlife department stated.

Similar incidents have occurred in recent years.

In 2018, a man in Alaska was critically injured after his hunting partner shot a bear on a ridge. The animal tumbled down a slope into the man, who was also struck by rocks dislodged by the bear.

Another man was injured in 2019 after his hunting partner shot a bear in a tree in North Carolina. The bear fell out of the tree and began biting the hunter. The man and the animal then tumbled off a cliff. The hunter was taken to a hospital, while the bear was later found dead.

Đứa dạn thì mập, mà dễ ...chít, đứa nhát thì ốm vì người ta ghét chúng, đuổi, chọi đá, bắn súng đạn nhựa nên chúng nhát .

Chẳng những vậy còn bơm nước vô fountain thường xuyên cho chúng ăn xong, uống nữa .

Men die from pneumonia after using bat poop to grow marijuana

Researchers are warning people about the use of bat poop as fertilizer, which can carry a harmful fungus

Two men from upstate New York have died from a type of pneumonia after using bat poop to grow cannabis.

The men, who were based in Rochester, developed fatal cases of histoplasmosis: a lung infection that is caused by breathing in spores of the harmful Histoplasma fungus.

The pair, who were not named, had been using the droppings to fertilize cannabis plants. It was not immediately clear when they died.

“Exposure to bat guano among cannabis growers appears to be a recent trend that can lead to histoplasmosis cases and outbreaks,” University of Rochester researchers said in a recent report. Bat poop is also known as guano.

The findings were published in the journal Open Forum Infectious Diseases.

Squirrels spotted hunting and eating rodents in ‘shocking’ discovery

New study suggest squirrels could be opportunistic omnivores



Scientists have for the first time ever found “shocking” evidence of carnivorous behaviour in squirrels — hunting and eating voles in California.

Ground squirrels are often seen stuffing their cheeks with nuts, seeds or grains, indicating that they are a granivorous species.

But the latest discovery, published in the Journal of Ethology, suggests squirrels may be opportunistic omnivores with a more flexible diet than assumed.

In the study, scientists from the University of California Davis assessed 74 interactions of squirrels with voles from June and July 2024.

They found that more than 42 per cent of the interactions involved active hunting of the small rodents by ground squirrels.

The Los Angeles county department of public health confirmed two fatal cases of H5 bird flu in cats on Wednesday. The two felines had consumed raw milk linked to Raw Farm, a dairy in Fresno, California, that was subject to a recall of raw milk and cream products last month.

The two cats initially showed a lack of appetite, fever and neurologic signs. As their symptoms worsened, they tested positive for influenza A, a rare result in cats, that was later confirmed as H5 bird flu.

The three cats who may also now be infected with bird flu all lived in the same household, according to authorities. Humans who came into contact with the animals are now being monitored for symptoms. Cats are considered highly susceptible to bird flu.
