Rinehart, who has described herself as a Trumpette, revealed to her staff last month that a renovation of her Perth company headquarters would be inspired in part by the Make America Great Again (Maga) movement.

The redevelopment will include a silver sculpture of Peanut the squirrel, an American pet squirrel that has become a cause célèbre of the Maga movement in the US after it was euthanised by authorities. The plans also include a plaque etched with a quote from Elon Musk on freedom.

Rinehart has long had strong views on government overreach and she is now pushing for a Maga-like crusade in Australia, calling on the country’s leaders to follow in the US president’s footsteps.

Australia’s richest person has also increased her investments in the US, with the Australian Financial Review reporting she now owns a $1.3bn portfolio in US stocks. This includes shares in Murdoch’s Fox Corp, Musk’s Tesla and the president’s Trump Media & Technology Group, which runs Truth Social.

Heard Island and McDonald Islands, which form an external territory of Australia, are among the remotest places on earth, accessible only via a two-week boat voyage from Perth on Australia’s west coast. They are completely uninhabited, with the last visit from people believed to be nearly 10 years ago.

Nevertheless, Heard and McDonald islands featured in a list released by the White House of “countries” that would have new trade tariffs imposed.

According to export data from the World Bank, the US imported US$1.4m (A$2.23m) of products from Heard Island and McDonald Islands in 2022, nearly all of which was “machinery and electrical” imports. It was not immediately clear what those goods were.

Norfolk Island, which has a population of 2,188 people and lies 1,600km (1,000 miles) north-east of Sydney, was slugged with a tariff of 29% – 19 percentage points higher than the rest of Australia.

But George Plant, the administrator of Norfolk Island, disputed the data. He told the Guardian: “There are no known exports from Norfolk Island to the United States and no tariffs or known non-tariff trade barriers on goods coming to Norfolk Island.”

The Nationals leader, David Littleproud, called it a “slip of the tongue” when Price, the shadow minister for government efficiency and Indigenous Australians, told a campaign rally she wanted to “make Australia great again” on Saturday.

The Coalition campaign spokesperson, James Paterson, distanced himself from the comments. On Sky News, the Liberal senator said “that’s not my style of politics” when asked if the Coalition would seek to ‘make Australia great again’ but he did not criticise the sentiment expressed by Price.

Anthony Albanese has secured a stunning federal election win while delivering a devastating result for the Coalition that cost Peter Dutton his own seat.

As counting continued on Saturday night, Labor had secured a significantly improved majority with Albanese becoming the first prime minister to win a second term since John Howard in 2004.

The comprehensive victory, which defied predictions of a hung parliament, hands Albanese a clear mandate to deliver a second-term agenda that includes slashing student debt, more free GP visits and building homes for first home buyers.

The opposition leader was the biggest casualty of what some Liberal MPs were calling a “bloodbath”, losing his marginal Brisbane seat of Dickson to Labor’s Ali France. The defeat ends Dutton’s 24-year career in parliament.

Suzanne Rees was on the second day of a luxury 60-day circumnavigation of Australia when she disembarked the Coral Adventurer at Lizard Island on the Great Barrier Reef on Saturday morning. She and other passengers had intended to hike the island’s Cook’s Look mountain.

Unknown to cruise staff and passengers, Rees, from Sydney, did not make it back to the ship before it left the island that afternoon. Her body was found the next day.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority said the Coral Adventurer’s master had notified the authority of the incident at 9pm on Saturday. Amsa then initiated a response and assisted Queensland police in a land and sea search for Suzanne Rees.

Có người 80 tuổi sức khoẻ tốt hơn người 60 tuổi có bệnh, tuy con gái nói bà khoẻ nhưng leo núi bị mệt gặp ngày nóng thì bị xỉu không chừng .
Người già thích độc lập, con cháu ai cũng lo làm, họ đi một mình theo tours có tổ chức, có người lo cho .

Trường hợp này bà lão leo núi mệt qyay trở xuống một mình, không có ai theo, có thể chỉ có 1 hướng dẫn viên, hoặc bà đi lạc, đi không nổi nữa, bị té ? và họ xuống bằng đường khác không ai thấy bà ?

Nói gì thì nói, ban tổ chức hay hướng dẫn viên phải chịu trách nhiệm, tắc trách không đếm đầu người, kiểm tra danh sách sign -out /sign- in sheet mới có chuyện đáng tiếc (mà chắc dẫn đoàn kiểu này không có luôn.)

Thì đương nhiên công ty du lịch phải chịu trách nhiệm nhưng chuyện mất người thân thì bắt ai đền lại được.

Hàng ngày người già lái xe ngoài đường là bình thường nhưng đến khi có tai nạn thì hối không kịp. Xảy một ly đi một cụ.

Phố Rùm của mình cũng có một passenger bị thất lạc lâu nay hông biết là ở đảo hoang nào.

Chuyện bình thường mà cưng, khi bác sĩ khám sức khoẻ, thấy người nào già quá, có bệnh, vấn đề sức khoẻ sẽ đề nghị "lấy bằng lái" luôn .

Già mà vẫn còn gân, cứ lái xe , còn hơn khối người trẻ, trung niên hút, chích rồi ra lái xe, hay lái ẩu tả mới ghê !! Xảy một ly đi mấy mạng.
